Despite Our Problems, Everyone Is 100% Committed To The MDC Alliance: Welshman Ncube

MDC Alliance spokesperson and leader of the smaller MDC party, Professor Welshman Ncube has acknowledged that there were problems between the partners in the coalition MDC Alliance. However, Ncube said that despite these problems, the Alliance is still united and represents Zimbabwe’s best hope to remove Zanu-PF. The MDC-T was accused by its alliance partners of disregarding the agreement and fielding candidates in constituencies reserved for other parties. Said Ncube,

I have personally spoken to each of them (affected parties) over the last three days and we are all agreed that we remain hundred per cent committed to the alliance, that we will work for the alliance to succeed in this election even if things which should not have happened, happened…There is, therefore, no doubt in my mind that the alliance is still intact, that notwithstanding the ill-treatment that some alliance partners have received, we still think it’s the only option that the people of Zimbabwe have and we will present that option to them.

In any case, an agreement we had was that a party would field a candidate in areas where it had greater support…It is politically suicidal as an Alliance to field a candidate who is weak. People should focus on the broader objective of winning the election.

  1. Forgive my saying this but your fermentation problems seem to be on going right from your split with Morgan Tsvangirai. The problem is each of you wants to be PRESIDENT which is impossible. What this means is if you win elections Zimbabwe will have a very dysfunctional government ever because you will be plotting against each other which will cause disengagement with the ordinary people who will have voted you into power. We are not bothered who is in power as long as we get freedom and progress as a nation to aleviate the suffering of the people. Your objective is to remove ZANU but then replace it with a disfunctional government focus on selling solutions to our problems in Zimbabwe pointing out what we already know and making promises will not wash tell us what you will do to correct the situation I have e never heard any PLAUSABLE solutions from you guys
