Members of the Zimbabwe Republic Police have expressed fears that they will be unable to vote in the 2018 harmonised elections after being deployed to different provinces. This is because, under the Biometric Voter Registration (BVR) system, voting is polling station based. Voters can only cast their votes at a particular polling station within their ward. A police officer who spoke to New Zimbabwe said,
Some of the police officers in Bulawayo will not be able to vote because most of them have been deployed in various areas in Matebeleland South province. I have been deployed to Beitbridge during the election, yet I am a registered voter in Pumula.
Zimbabwe Electoral Commission (ZEC) Commissioner, Qhubani Moyo, recently said,
The most ideal thing is that if one is a teacher, she or he is supposed to be deployed in his or her own ward so that they are able to vote. I suppose this also applies to police officers who are involved in the elections.
