Bring Back Police Officers To Ease Traffic Congestion: Harare City Council

In an interview with Daily News, Harare City Council’s director of works Zvenyika Chawatama said the congestion in Harare’s central business district can be eased if municipal police is assisted by Zimbabwe Republic Police officers.

Said Chawatama:

The congestion in the CBD can be eased if we are assisted by law enforcement from the ZRP. If the police could be returned on the roads it would ease the way motorists move around and reduce unnecessary congestion.

Harare City Council’s head of traffic, Judith Mujegu, said council has been lobbying government so that municipal officers have arresting powers but government is yet to get a response. She said offenders are taking advantage because they know municipal police do not have the authority to arrest them.

  1. Please please please bring back the police to control the traffic and the offenders who are breaking every traffic rule in the book. Turning from the wrong lane to going through red light’s. ETs and taxis main culprit.
