Speaker of Parliament Advocate Jacob Mudenda argues that former MDC-T deputy president Dr Thokozani Khupe’s expulsion from the National Assembly is Constitutional. Mudenda was responding to former MDC-T deputy president Dr Thokozani Khupe’s constitutional application challenging her expulsion.
Mudenda argues that Khupe’s challenge does not have any legal validity taking into consideration court judgements on the issue. He urges the Constitutional Court to dismiss Khupe’s application with costs. Said Mudenda:
I and my office, have been guided by the various views expressed by this court in these kinds of matters as well as its pronouncements. We have in addition been guided by the law as we have always understood it. The allegations made by the applicant against me do not have any legal validity.
The constitutional challenge will be heard on May 30.
