No Sick Presidential Candidates For 2018 Elections, Those Who Are Unfit Should Quit Politics: Mangoma

Opposition leader and Coalition of Democrats (CODE) presidential candidate, Elton Mangoma has called for presidential candidates to be medically assessed before the polls to ensure that they are not sick and that they are up to the task of running the country. Mangoma went as far as volunteering to take the first medical tests. His comments come after there has been massive speculation on the health of MDC-T president Morgan Tsvangirai. The veteran politician is suffering from colon cancer and appeared frail in photos taken when he was visited by President Emmerson Mnangagwa and his deputy, General Constantino Chiwenga last week.

In an interview with the online publication, New Zimbabwe, Mangoma said:

The physical and mental state is very critical for any leader of a country and I am willing to take the medical test first. Leaders must be fit to rule the country, look at what was happening with the former president Robert Mugabe; look at what he used to do. Look at the amount of state money and time Mugabe spent travelling to seek medical services in the Far East.

So, my suggestion is that all presidential candidates must go for medical examination and make the results known publicly. Those who will be found unfit must quit politics and leave it to energetic leaders to run the affairs of the country.

  1. A failure.. you dream ever being a President of this, you are crazy. Anything & everything is possible with God, but not you being a President of Zim.

  2. I believe an ailing Tsvangirai is better than a physically fit but mentally unfit Mangoma, besides there is something called recovery and God’s grace
