Zanu-PF national political commissar Victor Matemadanda has claimed that his party would have lost the 2018 elections if it had fielded Robert Mugabe as its Presidential candidate. He said this during a Zanu-PF Bulawayo inter-district meeting at the party’s Davies Hall provincial headquarters.
Said Matemadanda:
Zanu-PF was going to lose the 2018 elections had we continued with the former president as our candidate. This is largely because he (Cde Mugabe) had allowed his wife (Mrs Grace Mugabe) working in cahoots with the professor of succession (Prof Jonathan Moyo) and that dangerous boy called Tyson (Mr Saviour Kasukuwere) to destroy the party from within. The aspirations of the liberation struggle which we fought for can now be achieved following Operation Restore Legacy. When we fight in a revolution we don’t fight for personal glory, but for everyone and this fight should benefit the party. We want discipline in the party.
Matemadanda said that Zanu-PF will now work on building structures for the party starting at cell level.

If the elections are free and fair and monitored by ceedible organisations then ZANU PF will still lose anyway as they have no decent candidates. The party would need to be reborn, divorced from the struggle, natuonalism and rhe military before there would be a chance cor them. As things stand their ony hope would be bred out of corruptuon, intimidation and rigging yet another election.
