Warriors Start 2025 COSAFA Cup Campaign With Draw As VAR Denies Mauritius

Zimbabwe opened their 2025 COSAFA Cup Group A campaign with a goalless draw against Mauritius at Free State Stadium in Bloemfontein, South Africa, on Wednesday evening.

Mauritius thought they had taken the lead in the 73rd minute, but the goal was disallowed for handball after a lengthy VAR review.

Zimbabwe created several opportunities but failed to convert, with Andrew Mbeba’s stoppage-time header narrowly missing the target.

Remarkably, the Warriors ended the match without registering a single shot on target.

Earlier in the day, Mozambique edged hosts South Africa 1-0 to go top of Group A.

On Thursday, 5 June, Malawi will face Lesotho at 3 PM, followed by Angola taking on Namibia at 6 PM. On Friday, the only match scheduled is Zambia versus Comoros, kicking off at 6 PM.
