Masvingo–Glen Norah Loop Closed For Trabablas Interchange Official Opening

The Masvingo–Glen Norah loop road will be temporarily closed to traffic from Thursday to Friday this week to allow for preparations ahead of the commissioning of the Mbudzi Interchange.

President Mnangagwa is scheduled to officially open the newly constructed interchange on Friday. The interchange will be renamed Trabablas Interchange.

In a statement released on Wednesday, 28 May, the Ministry of Transport and Infrastructural Development advised motorists to use alternative routes, such as Amalinda Road, during the temporary closure. The statement reads:

The Ministry of Transport and Infrastructural Development, through its Department of Roads, is completing final preparations for the official opening and commissioning of the Trabablas Interchange on Friday, 30 May 2025, by His Excellency, the President, Cde Dr. ED Mnangagwa.

To ensure the safety of all road users and facilitate the smooth opening of this major transformative project, the Masvingo-Glen Norah loop will be temporarily closed from 29 May 2025 to 30 May 2025.

During this period, motorists are advised to use alternative routes, such as Amalinda Road. The Ministry sincerely regrets any inconvenience caused and appreciates the public’s cooperation and understanding.

The name “Trabablas” is derived from Mnangagwa’s liberation war moniker. The renaming was officially announced during a post-Cabinet briefing, where Information Minister Jenfan Muswere said the change was approved to honour Mnangagwa’s “visionary leadership”.
