Simba Bhora May Play CAF Champions League Home Games In Zambia

Premier Soccer League (PSL) champions Simba Bhora are reportedly considering playing their home matches in Zambia for the upcoming CAF Champions League, due to the absence of an approved stadium in Zimbabwe.

The National Sports Stadium is currently undergoing renovations and is not expected to be ready until September. Even then, it will require inspection and approval by CAF before it can be used.

With no suitable venue available locally, Simba Bhora may have to follow in the footsteps of Ngezi Platinum Stars and Dynamos, who also used foreign stadiums as home grounds in previous tournaments.

Simba Bhora’s owner, Simba Ndoro, is said to have secured a loan of around US$800,000 using his personal property as collateral to support the club.

A club insider told The Herald that Simba Bhora will insist on playing in Lusaka, Zambia’s capital, rather than Ndola, which is much farther from Harare. Said the source:

With no certainty on local venues, the club has made a more radical approach and is opting for Zambia.

But Zambia comes with one condition that is a venue in Lusaka, not Ndola. Ndola is very far in terms of proximity to the fans.

So, if it’s not here, it will be Zambia. The club is not oiled to play in the CAF competitions. A big budget looms and the club patron Simba Ndoro, is dedicated to going an extra mile to make the dream come alive.

If the prospects of playing in Zambia come into life, the club is already negotiating with a local transport operator to unveil at least 10 buses.
