Warriors vice-captain Marshall Munetsi delivered a spectacular equaliser as Wolves held Brentford to a 1-1 draw on the final day of the 2024/25 Premier League season on Sunday, 25 May.
Brentford took the lead in the 20th minute, with Bryan Mbeumo netting his 20th goal of the season after a well-placed pass from Christian Norgaard.
Wolves struggled to break through Brentford’s defence, with goalkeeper Mark Flekken making crucial saves to deny Matheus Cunha, Nelson Semedo, and Rayan Ait-Nouri.
However, in the 75th minute, Munetsi latched onto a Jorgen Strand Larsen header and unleashed a powerful first-time strike into the top corner, leaving Flekken with no chance.
His goal ended Wolves’ streak of seven consecutive final-day defeats in the Premier League.
Despite Brentford’s hopes of securing European qualification, results elsewhere meant they finished 10th, while Wolves ended the season in 16th place.
Munetsi’s performance earned him the Player of the Match award, capping off a strong season for the Zimbabwean international
Munetsi joined Wolverhampton Wanderers on 3 February 2025 during the January transfer window. Since his arrival, he has scored 2 goals in 14 appearances for the club.
