Chegutu Registry Office Reopens

Residents of Chegutu can now access civil registration services once again after the Chegutu District Registry Office resumed full operations on May 12, 2025. The office had temporarily shut down in January due to severe storm damage.

The Civil Registry Department confirmed that all essential services, including the issuance of birth and death certificates as well as national identity documents, are now available at the Chegutu office.

In a statement, the department expressed gratitude to Shacky Timburwa, Member of Parliament for Chegutu West Constituency, for his support in the office’s repairs. It also extended its appreciation to the public for their patience during the closure.

The department also announced that the Norton Sub-Office is now issuing polythene-synthetic identity documents as part of its service expansion. The statement read:

The Civil Registry Department remains committed to delivering efficient and accessible services that align with the government’s vision of improving public service delivery.
