MultiChoice has defended its decision to adjust prices for its DStv packages, with the changes set to take effect on 1 June 2025. The announcement, made on Monday, 19 May, follows the company’s regular review of its subscription pricing structure.
In an email sent to subscribers, MultiChoice’s General Manager, Siyabulela Jemsana, explained that pricing is occasionally reviewed to ensure the company can continue offering high-quality service and content while remaining financially sustainable. The statement reads:
MultiChoice is committed to providing its valued customers with unbeatable content, innovative technology and excellent service.
In order to continue providing excellent service and unbeatable content while remaining a sustainable business, we occasionally need to review our pricing.
For this reason, we will be implementing a price adjustment to the DStv packages, effective 1 June 2025.
As part of the upcoming changes, the Premium and Lite packages will remain unchanged at US$75 and US$9, respectively.
However, other packages will see modest increases. The Compact Plus package will rise from US$45 to US$46, Compact will go from US$30 to US$32, Family will increase from US$20 to US$21, and Access will move from US$15 to US$16.
For subscribers who use the Showmax Add to Bill Combo option, the updated prices will be US$49.99 for Compact Plus, US$35.99 for Compact, US$24.99 for Family, and US$19.99 for Access. Added Jemsana:
Our key priority is to continuously put our customers needs at the heart of everything we do. We appreciate your business and support in ensuring that we deliver world-class entertainment services.
