Harare Woman (29) Forges O-Level Certificate To Enter Nursing School

A 29-year-old woman from Greendale, Harare, forged an O-Level certificate in a desperate attempt to get into nursing school.

Tendai Florence Muroiwa pleaded guilty in court to presenting a fake certificate to secure a spot in a nursing training programme at Chitungwiza General Hospital.

She appeared before magistrate Ruth Moyo, charged with violating Section 35(e) of the Zimbabwe Schools Examination Council Act [Chapter 25:18].

Prosecutor Nomsa Kangara told the court that on 13 May, Muroiwa visited the Zimbabwe Schools Examination Council (ZIMSEC) offices to have her “certificate” verified after she’d been provisionally accepted into the programme. But officials quickly noticed something wasn’t right.

The candidate and centre numbers on the document actually belonged to someone else, a man named Keith Ndoro. While the certificate bore Muroiwa’s name, the subject grades had been altered as well.

Further checks revealed that Muroiwa hadn’t even sat for the November 2015 exams at Mufakose 1 High School, the exam centre listed on the forged certificate. She was arrested the same day.

Muroiwa is currently in custody and is expected back in court on Monday, 19 May for plea recording and sentencing.
