Minister of Local Government, Public Works and National Housing Saviour Kasukuwere has suspended 3 Harare City councillors for alleged involvement in a $31 million tender scam. The three are Councillors Wilton Janjazi, Urayayi Mangwiro, and Paula Macharangwanda. The three are already facing criminal abuse of office charges at the Harare Magistrates’ Court.
When reached for comment Harare Mayor Bernard Manyenyeni said:
I certainly did not expect that. The councillors are already in court over the matter. I wouldn’t have acted on a matter that is sub judice.
