President Emmerson Mnangagwa has urged government officials to treat well white investors saying the country needs more from them.
Mnangagwa was speaking during the launch of the French Development Agency (FDA) partnership with the National Museums and Monuments of Zimbabwe at the Great Zimbabwe monuments World Heritage Site in Masvingo recently.
The French Development Agency has released three million Euros towards the development of the World Heritage Site. Said Mnangagwa:
We want to develop here with the money we are going to continuously get. I was telling Kazembe Kazembe (Minister of Home Affairs and Cultural Heritage) that they should treat these whites well so that more money will come and we can build more infrastructure here like hotels among other things.
He, however, reiterated what had been said by his deputy Constantino Chiwenga who had said that whites stole treasures from the heritage site but were now returning the money through funding programmes. He said:
They have brought three million Euros. Chiwenga said the Germans and the Queen’s sons came here and stole from us, now the money is coming back and the three million is part of it.
Mnangagwa said the partnership between the French Development Agency and NNMZ will contribute to Zimbabwe’s tourism recovery and growth targets.
Under the partnership, the FDA will help NMMZ in developing infrastructure at the heritage site, documentation of history, promoting local and foreign tourism as well as local people’s involvement.
The signing ceremony was also attended by the French ambassador to Zimbabwe Laurrent Chevallier.
I beg to differ MR Presdent what we need in Zimbabwe is the knowledge to effectively produce(100%) from our land
People world wide needs food and our country has enough good agriculture land. Foreign Money will come into the country if we got abundant food reserves. We do not need the white man’s money. Our own production is worth more than the white man’s money.
Jonas – have you noticed how many whiteys have been asked back to take over badly used dished out farms?
Mnangagwa has no flair, haana ka that, anongobhowa zvaanotaura so – if only he could emulate Ramaphosa whose speeches are more appealing
