Oluwaseya Ajibala Ogbechi (43), Ruth Ruramai Ogbechi (28) and Olga Tapiwa Tapambwa (29) appeared before Harare magistrate Ms Barbra Chimboza facing seven counts of fraud and will appear today for ruling.
The trio reportedly bought groceries and an Apple iPhone 7 plus phones worth over $20 000. The court head that on May 8, the trio bought groceries worth $5 627.60 at SPAR Supermarket in Ballantyne suburb, Harare using a cloned ATM Visa Card belonging to a customer of Chase Bank of United States of America (USA).
Chase Bank discovered that the card was being fraudulently used in Zimbabwe and alerted the complainant, CABS Bank. It is alleged that the trio was captured on CCTV camera in the shop while using the Visa Card. On April 12, the three used a cloned ATM Visa Card belonging to the National Association a USA company to buy groceries in supermarkets around Harare, and also food at Chang Thai Restaurant worth $1 349.54. In total, they spent $21 687.63.
