Tsvangirai meets with top church leaders from Geneva

Morgan Tsvangirai’s spokesperson Luke Tamborinyoka confirmed to Daily News that on Tuesday the MDC-T leader met with top leaders of the Geneva based World Council of Churches (WCC).

Said Tomborinyoka:

I will not give much details save to confirm to you that indeed, the bishops met…Tsvangirai at their request. It speaks to the wide national engagement that is taking place to ensure the country is back on the rails.

Speaking to Daily News, MDC-T vice president Nelson Chamisa also confirmed the meeting with leaders of the WCC who comprised of secretary general, Reverend Olav Fykse Tveit,  local church leaders and clergy from Europe, North America and across Africa. In a statement posted on WCC website, Tveit said their visit to Zimbabwe is to express WCC’s commitment to work with the Zimbabwe Council of Churches (ZCC).
