Gladys Tsvuura (29) of Dzivarasekwa appeared before Harare Magistrate Barbara Chimboza facing charges of concealing birth. She is alleged to have killed her newly born twin babies by drowning them in a bucket of water. She denied the charges arguing that she gave birth prematurely. She was remanded out of custody and will be back in court on 14 June for trial.
The state alleges that Tsvuura gave birth at home on the 19 of May. One of the babies is reported to have cried out causing her landlord to call a traditional midwife. However, when confronted Tsvuura denied giving birth. The babies were discovered in a bucket of water after a search had been conducted.
