Victor Jaja, 42, the Officer in Charge of administration at Malborough Police Station appeared in court after he allegedly borrowed $30 from money collected for traffic spot fines.
Jaja appeared before Harare Magistrate Barbra Chimboza facing charges of Unauthorised borrowing and use of property. He was granted $50 bail and remanded to the 19th of June for trial.
According to the State Jaja allegedly used his influence to demand $30 from police details who were locking up the day’s takings from traffic spot fines. Although he paid back the money the next day, the offence had already been discovered by another officer who was investigating a case of theft from the police station.
