The cost of COVID-19 treatment in Zimbabwe’s hospitals has shot through the roof with the chances of getting successful treatment now dependent on how much money and influence you have.
According to ZIMPRICECHECK.COM, a prominent local doctor said that if you want proper treatment you have to be willing to pay the following costs:
- Doctors will demand US$250 per visit i.e. consultation if you are suspected of having COVID-19. This includes the cost of PPE and other materials they need to handle your case
- You will need to pay about US$75 for the actual COVID-19 test also known as the PCR test
- Other tests will also need to be carried out resulting in costs that will average about US$400 per day
- The total cost for the estimated 5 days you will need treatment is about US$3 000.00
- In fact, some hospitals are already demanding a deposit of US$5 000.00
To save your hard-earned US$3 000, there are a few things you can do to avoid contracting the novel coronavirus – SARS-CoV-2 – or its variant recently detected in South Africa – 501.V2. Here is what to do:
- Stay at home
- If possible work from home
- Behave responsibly and stop engaging in risky behaviour, for example, hosting and attending parties
- Wear your mask
- Practice social distancing
- Avoid travelling unnecessarily
- Avoid large gatherings
So why the fuck do we pay taxes? How is this the person responsibility when China brought this virus and it is the government’s responsibility to provide for the people, what happens to all the money we lose every month to their pockets and yet when it is time for them to play their role we as the people must pay.
