Violence breaks out at Barbourfields stadium after Shabanie beats Highlanders

A section of Highlanders fans threw missiles at Shabanie Mine fans who in turn ran away and took refuge at Barbourfields Stadium after Shabanie Mine beat Bosso.

Nelson Maziwisa grabbed the winner with a well taken flashing header in the 83rd minute of the game. Shabanie had caused problems all afternoon for Highlanders and were unfortunate not to be ahead in the first minute when Maziwisa’s effort was ruled out as the referee stated the ball had not crossed the line.

Highlanders also had a decision go against them when Rodreck Mutuma had the ball in the back of the net only for the referee to blow for offside. In the 75th minute Eric Mundzingwa was sent off for a second yellow card for dissent by the referee giving Shabanie the one man advantage. Shabanie took full use scoring through Maziwisa to take all three points from Barbourfields. Lloyd Nyamande was sent off for Shabanie in the 85th minute for a second yellow card for wasting time but the visitors managed to hold on for victory.
