MDC-T activists Yvonne Musarurwa, Tungamirai Madzokere, Phineas Nhatarikwa and Last Maengahama who were convicted of the murder of a policeman had their application to appeal thrown out. Supreme Court Judge Justice Chinembiri Bhunu ruled that the application was invalid and struck it off the roll.
The four were represented by Zimbabwe Lawyers for Human Rights Lawyers Charles Kwaramba and Gift Mthisi. Madzokere, Musarurwa and Maengahama were convicted by Justice Bhunu and sentenced to 20 years in jail each for the murder of ZRP Assistant Inspector Petros Mutedza who was killed five years ago. Nhatarikwa was convicted for accessory to murder and fined $500 as well a suspended three-year sentence.
