WFP Disputes Nick Mangwana On Drowned Haulage Truck

The World Food Programme (WFP) has refuted a claim by Secretary in the Ministry of Information, Publicity and Broadcasting Services, Nick Mangagwana that its truck carrying drought relief food destined for Nembudziya, Gokwe has drowned at Kawongo River.

In a rebuttal to Mnangagwa’s statement on microblogging site Twitter, the WFP said:

In fact, this is incorrect. This was not a WFP truck, but one contracted by the Government of Zimbabwe for its own food deficit mitigation programme. WFP is on the ground ready to assist and to ensure necessary food aid reaches those in need.
