Joice Mujuru loses bond notes fight again as ConCourt strikes challenge off the roll

The Constitutional Court has struck Joice Mujuru’s bond notes challenge off the roll.

Mujuru who was represented by constitutional law expert Professor Lovemore Madhuku, was challenging the legality of President Robert Mugabe’s presidential decree which introduced bond notes. She argued that the constitution does not allow the President make Statutory Instruments or amend Acts of Parliament.

The respondents in the case had opposed Mujuru’s application saying that it lacks merit, and wanted it dismissed with costs. The respondents were

  • President Mugabe
  • Parliament
  • Finance Minister Patrick Chinamasa
  • RBZ Governor John Mangudya
  • Attorney General Prince Machaya

We will update with more information.
