Senior Doctors Want Fired Doctors Reinstated Immediately

Senior Doctors have demanded the reinstatement of Junior doctors who were fired by the government following their labour action of not reporting for duty for over 60 days.

Speaking to the Health Times, Zimbabwe Senior Hospital Doctors Association said:

For the way forward the punitive disciplinary hearings must stop forthwith and those dismissed must have this decision reversed. A livable wage must be dispatched. Robust dialogue in good faith should take place with key stakeholders to help direct the capacitation and of the workers and the public health institutions. These must be given timelines to yield results.

The government fired 211 doctors yesterday as a punishment for their continued strike.

  1. Ahh timelines futi? With this govt? Mhuli will tell you next week chaiyo😅. I dont know what tis lost govt thinks where all this end!! Mugabe tried this, he fired the doctors, the nurses gollowed collapsing the entire health system. We been here before, how come we never learn

  2. This solidarity from the senior doctors speaks loudly of the government’s mismanagement of the health crisis. In the end Zimbabwe loses. Britain is now working on NHS visas to assist foreign doctors and nurses taking up employment in the UK. Is this where we want our medical practitioners to be?
