A member of the Reserve Bank of Zimbabwe’s (RBZ) Monetary Policy Committee, Eddie Cross, on Monday said that the Central Bank will introduce small denominations to make it difficult for the production of counterfeit notes of the new currency.
Cross said this while responding to a question in an interview with Star FM’s Linda Muriro.
He also said that higher denominations will be with high-end security features will be introduced in the next few months.
The RBZ on Monday revealed that it will issue a new $2 coin on 11 November 2019 to circulate alongside existing bonds notes and coins and new Zimbabwe Dollar notes which will be issued in the near future.
How does a small denomination note poses difficulties for counterfeit? As for the higher denomination notes being released in a few months – Well! We’ve been needing them, not wanting them, needing them for over two years. Eddie Cross, wake up and smell the coffee!
you must at least thank him for giving you information you would not have got anywhere. i get the logic, when you test some waters you don’t throw the whole of yourself in it otherwise you disappear. what helps is to be a little positive.
