Price Increase Madness Giving Us Sleepless Nights – Govt

The government has said the price increases are giving them sleepless nights the Sunday Mail reports. This was revealed by Secretary for Industry and Commerce Dr Mavis Sibanda who spoke to the publication about the issue and said:

That is a cause of concern to us as a ministry; we are not even sleeping because we do not understand what is happening and we are trying to find means and measures to stop this.

“We also think this is generated by people with ulterior motives because there is definitely no reason why (for example) if the price of fuel goes up by one cent, the price of Mazoe goes up by $10. Honestly, if one cent can be equated to $10 or $15 then there is something wrong. I personally believe some of these people are trying hard to push Government to put price controls, I think this is the intention that Government should put price controls so that goods disappear from the market

Basic goods prices have been on an exponential hike ever since September last year when the new cabinet came in office. The govt has threatened to put price controls but nothing has changed.

  1. Zesa price inreases is generated by people with ulterior motives!! Fuel price increases is generated by people with ulterior motives!! Sskunda gate forex deals pushing exchange rates up in support with Mthuli who gives them the bond is generated by people with alterior motives… minister, what do you take us for?? These are serious primary cost drivers that govt is directly responsible for yet you stand infront of the whole nstion and make a clown of yourself

  2. Could ot be because you are not the government the people have been voting for , for decades you arrogant thieving (no words are strong enough)

  3. Advice to the minister. You are chasing wrong indicators. Please go to any economics library and read about the solutions

  4. Mazie production has labour, capital, transportation, cost, cost of rental of land, technology and cost of the ingredients. Inflation is factored in . This explains why you fail in all your projects because you are myopic. If you run a full model the you would know the cost drivers and marginal effects of each of the factors. In zanu of only sanctions are the cause of economic challenges. However if you read outside the zanu of propaganda there are some measures that are there that can help the economy. If all of you are thrown out of government the economy will start to stabilise
