Justice Charles Hungwe has been appointed President of the Court of Appeal as part of a major reshuffle of Zimbabwe’s superior courts.
Three High Court judges, Justices Tawanda Chitapi, Happias Zhou and Joseph Mafusire, have been elevated to the Supreme Court bench.
Justice Hungwe took his oath of office before Chief Justice Elizabeth Gwaunza at the Constitutional Court. He recently completed judicial duties in Lesotho, where he was serving on secondment under the Southern African Development Community.
Justice Chitapi and Justice Mavangira, who has been elevated from the Supreme Court to the Constitutional Court, were also sworn in after missing an earlier ceremony due to official duties outside the country.
