Air Zimbabwe will resume scheduled direct flights between Harare and London Gatwick from 22 July 2026, marking a major step in the national carrier’s bid to restore international routes.
The airline confirmed the move in a press release on Thursday, announcing three weekly return services on the route.
Flights will depart Harare on Sundays, Wednesdays and Fridays, with return legs from Gatwick on Mondays, Thursdays and Saturdays. Air Zimbabwe will operate out of Gatwick’s South Terminal.
The Harare–London link has been absent from the carrier’s schedule for several years, and its return is being billed as “one of the most significant milestones in Air Zimbabwe’s history”.
The airline said the route would help “strengthen tourism, trade, investment and diaspora connectivity” between Zimbabwe and the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland.
To mark the relaunch, Air Zimbabwe has released promotional fares starting from £490 one-way or £675 return from London to Harare.
From Harare, one-way tickets start at US$495, with returns from US$900. The airline said fares are subject to availability and terms.
The service will use an Airbus A330-300 under a wet lease with Spanish carrier Plus Ultra Líneas Aéreas.
Plus Ultra will provide the aircraft, crew, maintenance and insurance, while Air Zimbabwe handles ticket sales, passenger services and commercial operations.
Air Zimbabwe said the route reflects its commitment to “restoring international connectivity and advancing the country’s re-engagement with global markets”.
The airline’s last regular London service was suspended amid operational and debt challenges, which led to its being barred from EU airspace in 2017.
The first flight is scheduled to leave Harare on Wednesday, 22 July 2026.
