Castle Lager Premier Soccer League newcomers Hardrock Football Club have suspended chief executive officer Kudzanai Hove indefinitely following his arrest by the Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP).
He is alleged to have been involved in the violence that marred the club’s match against Dynamos on Sunday.
In a statement issued on Wednesday, 27 May, Hardrock communications and media liaison officer Bruce Chikuni said Hove had been suspended for an indefinite period pending the outcome of the ongoing investigation.
“Hardrock FC leadership has resolved to suspend Mr Hove for an indefinite period pending the outcome of the ongoing investigation,” said Chikuni.
“We strongly condemn all acts of violence and vandalism. Such conduct is contrary to the values of the club and has no place in football.
“As Hardrock FC, we will work closely with the Zimbabwe Republic Police and other relevant stakeholders to ensure that everyone who played a role in causing the abandonment of the fixture is brought to book.
“We remain committed to cooperating fully with the investigation and to upholding the integrity of the game.
“The club extends its apologies to supporters of both teams, the wider football community, and the public for the regrettable events that occurred.”
