A Chiredzi mother who gave birth to triplets just over a year ago, bringing her total number of children to six, is appealing for assistance to care for her growing family.
Nyarai Masukume (32) told Masvingo Mirror that she and her husband, Clever Mandizvidza (33), are both unemployed and struggling to make ends meet.
Masukume, who lives in Section 4, Hippo Valley, Chiredzi, welcomed her three newborns, two girls and a boy, on 21 September 2024.
Life has been difficult for the family, who rely on occasional piece jobs to get by. She said:
“Life has been hard for us. My husband used to work in small-scale sugarcane farms, but farmers there have not been paying him, and we are struggling to take care of these children.”
Her husband, Mandizvidza, said they are seeking any form of assistance, including clothes, food, or money. He said:
“We are accepting all the help we can get be it clothes, food and shelter. Those with piece jobs kindly help us so that we will be able to take care of these children.”
