Robert Mugabe Jnr has been granted US$300 bail by Harare provincial magistrate Lisa Mutendereki after the State admitted there were no strong reasons to keep him in custody.

The 33-year-old son of the late former president is facing charges of unlawful possession of dangerous drugs.

As part of his bail conditions, he must report to the police every Friday, remain at his registered address, and avoid interfering with State witnesses.

Mugabe’s lawyer, Ashiel Mugiya, argued that his client was not a flight risk and was therefore suitable for bail.

The court heard that on 1 October 2025, around 8.30 AM, police officers conducting a traffic operation along Second Street Extension in Harare stopped Mugabe, who was driving a silver Honda Fit (registration AGY 5850), after allegedly driving against one-way traffic.

A search of his sling bag reportedly uncovered two sachets of dagga, a pack of rolling papers, and a white dagga crusher, with the dagga valued at US$30. He was immediately arrested.
