Prominent Ruwa businessman Joseph “Mutangaz” Mutangadura, who was gunned down in a violent armed robbery at his Lisheen Estate farmhouse on Sunday night, will be laid to rest on Saturday at Goromonzi Turnoff Cemetery. He was 67.
His son, Munyaradzi, confirmed the burial arrangements in an interview with The Herald on Tuesday.
Police have launched a nationwide manhunt for seven masked gunmen who stormed Mutangadura’s home at around 11 PM, armed with pistols, claw bars and hammers.
The gang reportedly overpowered the security guard, tied him up with shoelaces and dragged him into the house, where they smashed through the bedroom door with metal bars.
Mutangadura was shot in the stomach as he lay in bed with his wife. The robbers ransacked the property before fleeing, leaving the couple unconscious.
The two were rushed to Eden Hospital in Windsor, Ruwa, where Mutangadura was pronounced dead on arrival. His wife is still receiving treatment.
Police are yet to confirm the exact details and value of the stolen property.
Mutangadura was a towering figure in Ruwa’s business circles, with interests ranging from Mutangaz Hideout and Mutangaz Panyama to Lisheen Estate.
