Fake Employment Agent Jailed For 80 Years For Raping Job Seekers

A 36-year-old man from Chitungwiza has been handed an 80-year prison sentence after being found guilty on four counts of rape.

Aaron Sanyamahwe of Unit N, Seke, targeted vulnerable young women by posing as an employment agent to win their trust before subjecting them to brutal sexual assaults.

The Chitungwiza Regional Magistrates’ Court imposed a stringent penalty of 20 years for each of the four counts, ordering the sentences to be served consecutively, not concurrently.

The court heard that Sanyamahwe’s method involved luring his victims with promises of employment. He would then take them to isolated locations in the Dema area. The victims were blindfolded, moved to another location, strangled, and then violently raped.

Following the sentencing, the National Prosecuting Authority (NPA) said that the severe jail term serves as a stark warning that sexual violence will be met with the full force of the law in the country.

  1. Excellent! Ok, I would’ve referred this case to the High Court, and recommended a “suspended sentence”… On the end of some rope! All rapists deserve it!
