The Chitungwiza Municipality has announced the temporary closure of Chitungwiza Road for two days beginning Saturday, June 8, to allow for the installation of new sewer pipes as part of the Zengeza Sewer Trunk rehabilitation project.
In a public notice issued on Thursday, 05 June, Acting Town Clerk Japson Nemuseso said the closure will affect the section of the road between Madzibaba Simba’s shrine and the Unit J Turn-Off, near the Zengeza Sewer Treatment Plant gate.
The works involve laying 600mm and 800mm Glass Reinforced Plastic (GRP) pipes to improve sewer infrastructure in the area.
The municipality warned that some properties encroaching on pipeline servitudes may be affected. In such cases, parts of walls or barriers obstructing access to the sewer line will be temporarily removed. The notice reads:
We kindly urge all affected residents to cooperate with the contractor to ensure the smooth and timely execution of the works.
Motorists are advised to use alternative routes during the closure, as traffic will not be allowed through the construction zone.
