Zimbabwe’s tobacco exports have generated $381 million, according to the latest statistics from the Tobacco Industry and Marketing Board (TIMB).
The TIMB reported that 62.3 million kg of semi-processed tobacco have been exported to various destinations across the Far East, Europe, the Middle East, and Africa.
The Far East remains the primary market for Zimbabwean tobacco, offering some of the highest prices. In this region, 34.8 million kg were sold for $269.6 million, averaging $7.75 per kg.
Oceania imported 28,560 kg valued at $241,332, with an average price of $8.45 per kg. The European Union purchased 5,064.656 kg worth $27 million, averaging $5.33 per kg.
African countries imported 11.9 million kg of tobacco, totaling $52.5 million at an average price of $4.39 per kg.
The Middle East bought 7.1 million kg, valued at $21.9 million, averaging $3.09 per kg.
Lastly, the Americas purchased 2,556,640 kg for $7.6 million, averaging $2.98 per kg, while Europe acquired 735,200 kg worth $18 million at an average price of $2.40 per kg.
