Nestlé Zimbabwe has commissioned a US$7 million fourth roller dryer at its cereal production plant in Harare, a move expected to increase output by 35%.
The new equipment complements the plant’s existing three roller dryers and will increase processing capacity, particularly for popular products such as Cerevita.
Speaking at the commissioning ceremony, Nicole Roos, Nestlé Zimbabwe’s Market Head for the East and Southern Africa Region, said:
Nestlé Zimbabwe is among local manufacturers that are investing heavily in Zimbabwe’s economic growth and vision of becoming an upper-middle-income society by 2030.
Nestlé is focusing on Zimbabwe as a pivotal and strategic focus country in their Africa for Africa philosophy.
They are excited to announce the commissioned new RD4 and its significance to the Zimbabwe market and people, symbolising a US$7minvestment on the back of almost US$40m invested in the last 10 years.
Khaled Ramadan, Managing Director and Cluster Head for Nestlé Greater Zambezi, East and Horn of Africa, said:
This advancement not only streamlines supply chain efficiency but enables Nestlé to respond more swiftly to market demands, ensuring reliable service to local and export markets.
Moreover, this investment aligns seamlessly with the Zimbabwe industrial reconstitution and growth plan, enforcing national priorities such as food security, skills development and economic empowerment.
At the heart of our cereal portfolio lies Cerevita, a product that families across the region trust and cherish. Cerevita represents more than just a delicious breakfast.
The increased capacity will improve the availability of Cerevita and other cereal products on the local market, while also strengthening exports to regional markets such as Zambia, Malawi, and Mozambique.
