FC Wangu Mazodze have announced its withdrawal from the Eastern Region Division One League, citing what it describes as ongoing “victimisation.”
The Masvingo-based club issued a statement confirming their decision to pull out after being charged and fined for allegedly inciting crowd trouble.
In their statement, Mazodze accused the league’s board of unfair treatment and issued an ultimatum demanding the withdrawal of the charges by 2 June 2025.
Failure to do so, the club warned, would result in their immediate exit from the competition. The statement read:
In the event that reason does not prevail, the budget allocated for the 2025 football season will be redirected to promote social football in our communities.
We have engaged the Executive Committee Chairman, and if the baseless charges are not withdrawn by the close of business on June 2, 2025, we will automatically withdraw from the Pacific Storm Eastern Region Soccer League without further notice.
