FIFA Imposes Sanctions On Dynamos Over Unpaid Wages To Former Players

FIFA has banned Dynamos from registering new players both locally and internationally due to unpaid salaries owed to two former players, Emmanuel Paga and Frederick Ansah Botchway.

Paga, a forward, is owed US$8,500, while his Ghanaian compatriot Botchway is owed US$10,000.

Dynamos becomes the third local Premier Soccer League club, after Yadah Stars and Highlanders, to be sanctioned by the FIFA Disciplinary Committee in the past two years for failing to settle dues with expatriate players.

In its ruling issued on Wednesday, 28 May, FIFA outlined deadlines by which Dynamos must pay the outstanding amounts to the two West African players.

The Dynamos management has to urgently raise the US$18 500 to pay off Paga and Botchway in the next 45 days to avoid the ban.

FIFA’s chief legal and compliance officer, Emilio Garcia Silvero, said the transfer ban will remain in effect until Dynamos settles the full amount.

If the debts are still unpaid after three registration periods, the matter could be escalated further at the claimant’s request.

Both players had reportedly tried unsuccessfully to recover their dues before turning to FIFA. Despite prior warnings and deadlines, Dynamos failed to act, prompting the governing body to impose sanctions.
