Chitungwiza Woman (33) Gives Birth To Quintuplets At Karanda Hospital

A 33-year-old woman from Chitungwiza has given birth to quintuplets, three boys and two girls, at Karanda Mission Hospital, in what her husband has described as a “miracle”.

The new arrivals, born prematurely at seven months, bring the couple’s total number of children to seven, as the mother had previously given birth to twins.

Her husband, 32-year-old Valetta Nyamupfukudza, who works for the City of Harare, said he’s still coming to terms with the news. “I’m yet to believe this miracle,” he said.

Valetta has since reached out for support from the Africa Twins Association (ATA), led by co-presidents Farai “Lawyer” Katonha and Tendai “Mayor” Katonha.

The twins applauded the medical team at Karanda for safely delivering all five babies, saying their efforts were nothing short of heroic.

In a statement, the Katonha twins congratulated the family and urged the government to step in and support families in similar situations, given the financial and medical challenges that often come with multiple births. The statement reads:

Karanda Mission Hospital has earned a reputation for exceptional healthcare, particularly in obstetrics and surgical care.

The successful delivery of these quintuplets showcases the hospital’s commitment to quality healthcare, with the medical team’s expertise ensuring the safety of the premature babies.

This remarkable event has brought joy and a sense of community support to the family, highlighting the importance of healthcare services in such extraordinary circumstances.
