ZRP Names Victims Of Mahuwe And Harare-Mukumbura Road Accidents

 

The Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP) has released the names of the victims from two fatal road accidents that happened earlier this week, one on 12 May along the Mvurwi-Kanyemba Road near Mahuwe, and the other on 13 May along the Harare-Mukumbura Road. In total, nine people lost their lives in the two crashes.

ZRP spokesperson Commissioner Paul Nyathi confirmed that five people died in the Mahuwe accident. Their names were released after being identified by their next of kin:

  • Gilbert Katyamakwara (50), a male adult of Chitauro Village, Chief Bepura, Guruve.
  • Nelisa Majasi (08), a female juvenile of Chitauro Village, Chief Bepura, Guruve.
  • Nevy Samunawu, a female adult of Chitauro Village, Chief Bepura, Guruve.
  • Chiseche Mafuta (48), a female adult of Magaya Village, Chief Bepura, Guruve.
  • Murambiwa Joyce (49), a female adult of Marumahoko Village, Chief Bepura, Guruve.

Commissioner Nyathi also said the death toll from the Mazowe road traffic accident has now risen to six. Five of the victims have been identified by their next of kin, and their names are as follows:

  • Future Chikudza (51), a male adult of Zimre Park, Harare 
  • Tatenda Samatha Ngundu (29), a female adult of Munyarari Village, Zimunya, Mutare 
  • Heather Mashiri (70), a female adult of South View, Harare. 
  • Flosky Ngundu (five months), a male juvenile of Munyarari Village, Zimunya, Mutare 
  • Anotida Denzel Mawadze (19), a male adult of Westley, Harare

Nyathi said the sixth victim, an adult female, has not yet been identified by her next of kin. The ZRP spokesperson added:

The Zimbabwe Republic Police reiterates that motorists should prioritise road safety and avoid speeding.

Above all, drivers are urged to abide by the country’s road rules and regulations to curb road accidents and safeguard human lives.
