Dynamos have appointed Saul Chaminuka as their new head coach, replacing Lloyd “MaBlanyo” Chigowe, who has been reassigned to lead the club’s developmental structures.
Chaminuka, a veteran and widely travelled coach, joins from bottom-placed Kwekwe United, where he was recently suspended following a series of poor results.
Despite that, he remains a respected figure, having nearly guided Black Rhinos to safety last season after joining mid-campaign.
He also came close to winning the league title with ZPC Kariba in 2014, only losing out on the final day of the season.
His appointment comes at a critical time for Dynamos, who are languishing in 16th place on the Castle Lager Premier Soccer League table, with just eight points from 11 matches.
The club has won only one match this season, prompting the latest shake-up in the technical department.
Chaminuka’s first assignment will be a high-stakes clash against equally struggling rivals CAPS United in the Harare Derby at Rufaro Stadium on Sunday.
Assisting Chaminuka will be Philemon Mutyakureva, a former Dynamos midfielder and assistant coach who previously worked under Kalisto Pasuwa between 2012 and 2014—a period regarded as one of the most successful in the club’s modern history.
The reshuffle has brought several other changes to the Dynamos technical team. Former Motor Action goalkeeper Marlon Jani returns to the club as the goalkeepers’ coach, while Takesure Chinyama retains his role as the strikers’ coach.
Ronald Sibanda continues in his position as team manager, and Washington Lusengo has been retained as the kit manager.
In addition, Puo Mhizha makes a return as assistant kit manager, following a recommendation from the new head coach.
Only Chinyama and Sibanda have survived from Chigowe’s outgoing technical team, following a disappointing run that ended with a 0–2 loss to Triangle United, now coached by former Dynamos boss Genesis Mangombe.
Chigowe, who took charge in August 2024, exits the role amid mounting pressure and fan frustration over the club’s decline.
