ZRP Names Zimbabweans Killed In South African Mine Crackdown, Calls On Families To Claim Bodies

The Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP) has released the names of Zimbabweans who recently died in South Africa during Operation Vala Umgodi.

The names were made public after the South African authorities, through Zimbabwe’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Trade, asked for help in finding and identifying the victims’ relatives.

ZRP spokesperson Commissioner Paul Nyathi said the bodies have not yet been claimed by their next of kin. He added:

Some of the victims’ full particulars are yet to be obtained but concrete information indicates that these are Zimbabweans. The cooperation of relatives will assist in the identification of the victims and repatriation of the bodies for burial in Zimbabwe.

The Zimbabwe Republic Police requests the relatives and friends of the victims to contact the National Complaints Desk Number on (0242) 703631 or 0712 800197 or report at any nearest Police Station.

  • Jairosi Pasa (Next of kin Simon Maronga, Enes Mahachi, Kenas Pasi)
  • Moses Chidumba (Next of kin Unknown)
  • Thomas Chipanza (Next of kin Unknown)
  • Jack Mlambo Maeza (Next of kin Joseph Mlambo)
  • Edzai Mlambo Maeza (Next of kin Unknown)
