The Shurugwi Police Women’s Network recently donated food items and US$100 to the wife of a police officer who was injured in a road accident and sustained fractures in both hands.
The Network, made up of uniformed officers and CID detectives, is led by Officer-in-Charge Shurugwi, Chief Inspector Hanzinei Jindu. The donation was made last Thursday.
Speaking at the handover, Chief Inspector Jindu urged drivers to exercise caution on the roads to help prevent such accidents. She said:
As women, we were saddened because the demands of her motherly role cannot be met anymore. There is no one to do chores for her as she is nursing some wounds.
We pray for her a speed recovery and urge drivers to exercise caution on the roads. They should remember that although speed thrills, it kills.
Rutendo Madzinga, the wife of Detective Sergeant Tauya Samanyika, was involved in a road accident at the Chikwingwizha turnoff during the Easter holiday.
She sustained fractures in both hands and is due to undergo surgery on her left hand. Before the accident, she helped support the family by running a chicken-rearing business, which she is now unable to continue.
Detective Sergeant Samanyika is currently stationed at Chivhu CID, while his family resides at Shurugwi Police Station.
