Zimbabwe’s gold sector recorded strong growth in April 2025, with gold deliveries reaching 3.9 tonnes — a 62.5% increase compared to 2.4 tonnes in April 2024.
Fidelity Gold Refiners, the state’s official gold buyer, reported that the rise was mainly due to a significant increase in deliveries from small-scale producers, whose output more than doubled year-on-year.
Gold remains Zimbabwe’s top foreign currency earner, bringing in US$1.5 billion in 2024.
From January to April 2025, larger, established mining companies, known as primary producers, delivered a total of 3,653.03 kg of gold. Their monthly output remained relatively stable at around 900 kg.
Some of Zimbabwe’s main primary producers include Kuvimba Mining House, Caledonia Mining Corporation, and Dallaglio Investments.
In contrast, small-scale producers, which include artisanal miners and smaller operators, delivered a larger combined total of 8,696.97 kg over the same period. Their output showed more month-to-month variation, with a peak of 2,926.11 kg recorded in April.
Overall, total gold deliveries for the first four months of the year stood at 12,350 kg.
