Mbappé Hat-Trick Not Enough As Barcelona Beat Real Madrid In Seven-Goal El Clásico

Barcelona are closing in on the La Liga title after a dramatic 4-3 win over Real Madrid in a thrilling El Clásico at the Estadi Olímpic Lluís Companys on Sunday, 11 May 2025.

The game started with a bang as Real Madrid raced into an early lead, with Kylian Mbappé scoring twice in the first 14 minutes.

It looked like Barcelona might be in trouble, but they hit back quickly. Eric Garcia got one back to make it 2-1, and minutes later, 16-year-old Lamine Yamal brought the home crowd to life with the equaliser.

With momentum swinging in their favour, Barcelona pushed forward. Raphinha scored twice before half-time, giving Barça a 4-2 lead going into the break.

It was an open, fast-paced match that had fans on the edge of their seats from the first whistle to the last.

Mbappé completed his hat-trick in the 70th minute, reducing the score to 4-3 and setting up a tense finish.

Then, in stoppage time, it looked like the French striker had levelled the match with a brilliant volley—only for the goal to be ruled out for offside after a VAR check.

Barcelona dominated possession with 62%, keeping control for large parts of the match and frustrating their opponents with confident passing and smart defending when it mattered most.

The win moves Barcelona seven points clear at the top of La Liga with just three matches left to play. The title isn’t officially theirs yet, but they’re now in a strong position to finish the job.

Head coach Hansi Flick has played a key role in the team’s success since taking over. Even after a disappointing Champions League semi-final exit to Inter Milan, he’s kept the squad focused and motivated in the league.

Under Flick’s guidance, Barcelona have completely outplayed Real Madrid this season. They’ve won all four Clásico meetings across different competitions: a 4-0 league win at the Santiago Bernabéu, a 3-2 victory in the Copa del Rey final, a 5-2 triumph in the Spanish Super Cup final, and now this unforgettable 4-3 result.

Match Stats
