Two Pedestrians Killed After Vehicle Veers Off Harare-Bulawayo Road

The Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP) has confirmed a fatal road traffic accident that occurred on 4 May 2025 at approximately 10:30 am, near the 197-kilometre peg along the Harare-Bulawayo Road.

The ZRP said two men tragically lost their lives when a Subaru vehicle, carrying a single passenger, veered off the road to the left. The vehicle struck the two victims, who were standing by the roadside, before continuing off the road, hitting a tree where it eventually came to a stop.

The victims were immediately taken to Kwekwe District Hospital, but unfortunately, they succumbed to their injuries shortly after arrival.

Meanwhile, the ZRP has reiterated its call for all motorists to stop and offer assistance to accident victims where necessary and to report any incidents to the police within 24 hours. The call comes in the wake of three fatal hit-and-run incidents over the preceding days.

On 2 May 2025, an unknown motorist struck and killed an 81-year-old woman at the 102-kilometre peg along the Harare-Mutare Road in Marondera, before speeding away from the scene.
