Moses Langa, the chairman of the ZANU PF Youth League in Matabeleland South, won the party’s primary election for the Insiza North constituency on Saturday.

He got 2,478 votes. The closest competitor, Delani Moyo from Ward 13, got 1,564 votes.

The other candidates received the following votes: Qhubani Moyo got 983, Davison Moyo 271, Sifiso Mpofu 157, Nkosana Mthunzi 97, and Ernest Ncube 16.

Moses Langa is the son of Andrew Langa, a member of ZANU PF’s Central Committee.

The Nomination Court will meet on May 15. After that, the Zimbabwe Electoral Commission (ZEC) will announce the by-election date.

The by-election is being held because the previous Member of Parliament, Farai Taruvinga, passed away. He died of cancer at his home in Bulawayo. He had been the MP since 2018.
