21-Year-Old Woman Raped After Responding To Social Media Job Ad

Police have issued a warning to the public about the dangers of responding to employment and dating opportunities on social media without first conducting proper research and verification of the companies or individuals involved.

 Police stressed that it is crucial to check the authenticity of job offers and the reputation of those making them.

The Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP) delivered this warning following an incident where a 21-year-old woman from Chipinge was sexually assaulted by a fraudulent businessperson in Chingono Village, Rusape, after she responded to a job advertisement for a shop attendant on social media. The ZRP said:

The ZRP warns the public against responding to employment and dating opportunities on social media without conducting research and verifications on the company or individuals involved and their reputation as well as checking the authenticity of the job offers. 

This follows a case of rape in which a woman (21), from Chipinge, was sexually abused by a bogus businessperson at Chingono Village, Rusape on 25/03/25, after responding to a job advertisement for a shop attendant on social media.
