The Grain Marketing Board (GMB) has announced the approved producer prices for the 2024/25 season, along with the winter wheat incentive planning prices.
In a statement issued on Thursday, April 3, GMB CEO Edson Badarai confirmed that the prices are designed to support both food security and macroeconomic stability. He added:
GMB will primarily purchase produce from farmers financed under the Presidential Input Programme (PIP) and Irrigation schemes. Contractors are expected to buy back contracted produce at market prices. Furthermore, GMB, working with ZMX, shall provide commercial warehouse receipts services to all players.
GMB appreciates the role of farmers and all stakeholders in the pursuit of agriculture transformation, towards national food security and economic growth.
The summer producer prices are as follows: maize at US$376.48 per metric tonne, traditional grains at US$376.48 per metric tonne, soybean at US$580.00 per metric tonne, and sunflower at US$668.98 per metric tonne.
The winter wheat incentive planning price has been set at US$451.35 per metric tonne.
